Create Your Season of Success & Fun

Create Your Season of Success & Fun

Can You Believe It?

October is basically here, and I don’t know about you, but the last quarter of the year always feels like a whirlwind. Work deadlines, holiday planning, and a million other things start to blur together. Fall isn't just about pumpkin spice lattes and cozy sweaters (although, those are a plus!) - it’s the perfect season to refocus, recalibrate, and finish the year empowered (instead of exhausted).

I like to think of fall as my “reset” button, a time to prioritize what truly matters, both at work and in life. Here’s how to take advantage of this season to focus on what you really want to achieve before the year closes out.

Creating Fun & Focus for Year-End

Here are some practical steps to set yourself up for success this year-end:

(But if it already feels hard to make the time to do these on your own, register for my Oct 10th FREE Virtual Workshop and we can do it together!  Register HERE for Season of Success:  Fun, Focus, & Finishing Strong!)

1. Revisit Your Goals – What’s Still Important?
Okay, remember those New Year’s resolutions? Yeah, me neither. But, seriously, it’s not too late to make progress toward the goals that matter most. Take a few minutes to reflect on what you wanted to achieve this year.

What’s still important to you? Is it that promotion you’ve been gunning for? Spending more time with family? Finally taking that solo trip you’ve been dreaming about? Pick 2-3 goals that still excite you or feel relevant, and focus on those for the rest of the year.

Action Step: Write down your top three goals. Be specific. If your goal is work-related, what’s the exact milestone you want to hit? If it's personal, what's something concrete you can do?

2. Prioritize Ruthlessly
You know how life goes—emails pile up, meetings get scheduled back-to-back, and your to-do list seems never-ending. The secret to staying focused during this season is to prioritize ruthlessly.

Here’s a little trick I’ve been using: Before your day starts, jot down your top 1-2 must-do tasks. Then, give yourself permission to let the rest go. Trust me, you’ll feel less overwhelmed when you stop trying to do it all.

Fall can be a busy time for most of us, but that doesn’t mean you have to lose focus on what really matters. Your time and energy are precious—use them wisely.

Action Step: Each morning, write down your top 1-2 priorities. I challenge you to focus on just these until they’re done before tackling anything else.

3. Create Small, Achievable Milestones
Big goals are inspiring, but let’s be real - they can feel overwhelming when you’re juggling a career, relationships, family, and (oh yeah) self-care. That’s why breaking your goals down into smaller, bite-sized milestones can make all the difference.

Instead of saying, “I’m going to finish this huge project,” try something like, “I’m going to complete the first draft of my report by Friday.” When you create these smaller, more achievable goals, the progress will feel tangible and keep you motivated to keep going.

It’s like when you’re hiking and focus on the next bend in the trail rather than the entire mountain. You’ll feel accomplished at each stage and build momentum to tackle the next.

Action Step: Break down your top three goals into smaller milestones. What can you realistically achieve by the end of each week this month?

4. Embrace the Power of ‘No’
I get it. Saying “no” is hard. As women, we often feel the need to prove we can handle it all. But saying “no” is one of the most powerful tools you have to protect your time and energy.

This fall, I want to encourage you to get comfortable with saying no. Whether it’s to a last-minute work project that doesn’t align with your priorities or a social invite you don’t really want to attend—honor your needs. Saying no to one thing is really saying yes to something else—something more aligned with your goals.

Action Step: This week, practice saying no to at least one thing that doesn’t serve you. It could be something small, like declining an extra meeting or saying no to a favor that drains your energy.

5. Carve Out Time for Reflection
Fall is a time for reflection. The year’s almost over, and it’s natural to feel reflective about where you’ve been and where you’re headed. Take advantage of this energy by carving out some time for yourself to just think.

Whether it’s a quiet morning with a cup of coffee or a walk, give yourself permission to slow down and check in with yourself. What’s working? What isn’t? Are you happy with where you’re at, or is something missing?

Action Step: Schedule 10-15 minutes of reflection time each week. Use this time to journal, meditate, or simply sit in silence. Trust me, this small habit can lead to major insights.

6. Celebrate the Small Wins
Don’t wait until December 31st to pat yourself on the back. Celebrate your small wins along the way! Whether you checked something off your to-do list, had a productive day at work, or managed to sneak in a workout amidst the chaos, take a moment to acknowledge it.

We often overlook these small wins because we’re too busy focusing on what’s next. But they’re important—they’re the building blocks that get you closer to those big goals. So, give yourself credit!

Action Step: At the end of each week, jot down three things you accomplished—no matter how small. You’ll be surprised how much progress you’ve actually made.  Pro tip:  If you did something that wasn't on your to-do list, go back and add it and immediately cross it off!  (it feels so good)

7. Fill Your Cup
Don’t forget to take care of YOU. Fall can be a hectic time, but it’s also a season of transition. As the days get shorter and the weather cools down, make sure you’re taking care of your mental and physical well-being.

Whether that means scheduling in regular workouts, connecting with the people that energize you, or simply curling up with a good book—do what fills your cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and the more you take care of yourself, the more focused and productive you’ll be.

Action Step: Commit to one self-care practice this season. Whether it’s 30 minutes of exercise, a skincare routine, or a new hobby, find something that nourishes you and make it non-negotiable.

Wrapping Up
Fall doesn’t have to be a season of stress and chaos—it can be your time to refocus, reset, and finish the year feeling accomplished.

You have the power to prioritize what matters, take intentional steps toward your goals, and still take care of yourself along the way.

You deserve to enjoy this life you are working so hard for!

Cheers to a fulfilling fall season,
Sharon
